PEMF Therapy

PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic frequencies. This technology has been around for over 100 years. The machine floods the body with electrons through a very brief, but intense, safe electromagnetic pulse. This causes cells to very quickly expand and contract, improving nutrient absorption. It has three FDA approvals, including bone healing, migraine and depression.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field TherapyHowever, it has many other applications. Since our cells run on electrons, there is virtually no cell in our body that cannot benefit from PEMF technology. It works well on all sorts of pain conditions. For example, there have been reports of regeneration of knee cartilage. Also, spinal stenosis, a very difficult condition to treat, has shown improvement in some cases.

The typical treatment lasts one- hour. Pathways offer two treatment options; sitting in a chair or lying down on a massage table on a full-length pad. There are also various accessories to focus on the area being treated. Usually, patients will see some improvement after a few sessions, but in order to improve cellular health, it is recommended to have 24 to 48 sessions. There is a magnetic pulse field that can be adjusted to your comfort and you will feel a jumping of your muscles with each pulse! Patients report improvements in pain, energy and well-being.

Our machine is one of the most powerful that can be obtained in the United States. There are weaker versions, which do have some benefit, but would not generally yield the same results.

The machine is safe but cannot be used if one has any implanted mechanical devices such as a pacemaker, defibrillator or Insulin pump. Artificial joints, stents or other non-mechanical devices do not present a problem.
